South Korean students will receive NFT as degree
South Korea's Sungkyunkwan University will issue non-fungible token degrees to all 2,830 graduates of its 2021 batch at its graduation ceremony on Friday. The university hopes the move to non-fungible tokens will help graduates access administrative services more easily, and prevent forgery or alteration of their degrees.
Thought NFTs were only jpegs selling for millions of dollars? Not anymore.
I rather have a NFT degree than a paper one. In yo face, right-clickers! 😏
Crypto.com coin (CRO) has rebranded to be called CRONOS
In a recent announcement, the Crypto.com coin (CRO) has just been rebranded as CRONOS in the Crypto.com app. This is giving the coin the same name as the cronos mainnet which is currently in beta.
It's a good guess that the name is related to the Greek titan Cronus, son of Uranus, ruler of the universe. But it might have been named after the similarly named Chronos, a different Greek titan who was essentially the father of the cosmos.
The new name merges well with the crypto.com ecosystem.
McDonald’s will be using the metaverse to deliver
After making fun of crypto last month, McDonald’s has applied for 10 metaverse-related patents that allow it to deliver food online and in person, offer entertainment services, sell non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and more.
Even though your food will be delivered to you physically, the world’s largest fast-food chain wants to offer you a virtual restaurant in the metaverse.
“You are hanging out in the metaverse and get hungry. You don’t have to put down your headset. You walk into a McDonald’s and place an order. It arrives at your door a little while later,” Josh Gerben stated.
Say what you want about McDonald's, but they really know their market. Banking on people being too lazy to remove their headsets to order food is probably a pretty safe bet.
