Here's what you need to know:
60,000 Indians signed a petition to lower crypto tax
During her speech on Budget 2022-23, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that crypto income will be taxed at 30%, and no deductions will be allowed except for the cost of acquisition.
That’s just harsh.
But, a YouTube channel that goes by the name “Crypto India” started a petition which calls on India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to make changes to the tax proposal. It requests the government to bring the current proposed tax rate of 30% in line with the tax rate applicable to stock market transactions.
More than 60,000 crypto enthusiasts have signed the petition. 60,000, out of 1.32 billion? That’s 0.00004545% of the population.
Also, looks like the number of Bitcoins I hold at the moment 😅
Instagram bans Mark Cuban-backed account
Instagram has banned popular Mark Cuban-backed account @nft amid repeated policy violations. “This account was disabled following repeated violations of our policies, and it won’t be reinstated,” a spokesperson for Instagram told the Rolling Stone.
The account has been accused of repeatedly posting sponsored content and advertising new NFT collections without disclosing the posts as ads.

A DAO created to free Julian Assange
This seems to be a crazy use case but a DAO has been created to release Julian Assange 🤯 and has already raised over $7.5 million in Ethereum.
The funds will be used to help with Assange’s legal fees and raise public awareness about his case.
Following suspension on GoFundMe, Canadian Truckers choose Bitcoin
Canadian truckers were protesting against Covid-19 restrictions using GoFundMe. Over $10 million was collected but now has been suspended by the platform and an “Under Review” disclaimer has been added to the status.
In comes decentralization.
A group of Canadians has taken it upon themselves to raise money for the truckers via methods that no central entity has control over. The group has chosen to use Bitcoin. The fundraiser had reached almost 1.9 BTC (approximately $78,875) at the time of writing, just a few days following its launch.
The group is spearheaded by Canadian entrepreneurs and bitcoin advocates Jeff Booth, Greg Foss, Benjamin Perrin as well as Twitter user NobodyCaribou.
Such a boss move.
U.S. Senator Ted Cruz purchases Bitcoin
Talk about buying the Bitcoin dip!
According to a financial disclosure filed on Friday 4th Feb, Ted Cruz bought between $15k and $50k worth of Bitcoin on January 25th, using the River brokerage.
We feel that politicians buying is an ultra bullish sign. If Nancy Pelosi buys any we’re gonna take out all the loans we can just to buy BTC
Not investment advice, duh!
